‘After two years since their last release of Star, and during a rnbreaking from touring, Belly has finally released their next LP, King.  This CD is almost like a more organized version of Star, their first release off of Sire/Reprise records.

A couple of years ago, no sooner than the members of this group had just met, they came out with their first album.  They had not really even known each other at that time.  Given that Star is not bad, King is just better.  There are too many good rntracks on this recording to single out the best ones, but if I had to choose a favorite, I would say that it would have to be either Seal My Fate, or King, which also doubles as title to this LP.  This CD is definitely not one that will make you want to go belly up.

Belly was chosen as the name of this group because the lead rnsinger, Tanya Donnelly, says that it is her favorite word because it is both beautiful and ugly.  Everything seems to bernmore clear on King.  Her feelings can now be understood.  The band became more organized.  They got to know each other, and finally realized what they wanted to do on this album.  Star was released after only playing one year together.

This is a real good album, and I would definitely recomend it.  rnThis album consists of “eleven new originals that take the promise of Star…a giant step further…and then some.”rnToo me, Belly sounds like a mixture of somewhat of a sixties surfer type of music with a twist of modern day alternative rock.  I guess it was best described by this phrase, “Gidget goesrngrunge.”

King is a definite must have album.  Pick it up as soon as rnpossible.
